The 10 best experiences in A Desenzano Del Garda

Following the course of the river Mincio, the route starts from our ebike rental point near Peschiera del Garda and reaches the lakes of Mantua. The river is the absolute protagonist of this path that in fact is born from Lake Garda to Peschiera and arrives in Mantua where it forms the three lakes that surround the city. Approximately 45 km from north to south is a very easy track, well marked and suitable for everyone, with a modest height difference, completely paved and isolated from the traffic. Spring is the best time to travel it, but also the one in which it is more frequented, especially on holidays.

Any outdoor activities idea? This tour is the most tasty bike tour of the area: it runs along the streets of the Risorgimento and leads you to discover the typical products, the excellent food and the incredible landscapes of the Terre del Custoza. You can immerse yourself in this genuine climate by letting yourself be carried away by the scents and colors of these lands and our wines, starting with the most famous of the Custoza DOC area but also of the Bardolino red wine. It is possible to make wine tastings accompanied by typical local products.

The circuit leads, between a ride and the other, to discover the landscape of the moraine hills and the important relationship with the water of this territory. The departure from the center of Ponti sul Mincio includes a visit to the Scaliger Castle, built with the pebbles of the Mincio. Continuing you can visit the Lavatoi where the resurgent water was used, until recent times, for the laundry. Coming out of the center of the village, surrounded by the landscape, we arrive at Forte Ardietti of Austrian construction. A meandering road later leads to the Mincio. The river, with the imposing structures of the dam and the regulator of the Virgilio canal, concludes this route among hills, fortifications and water.

The route starts in front of the Venetian fortress of Peschiera del Garda (testimony declared UNESCO heritage since 2017 in the transnational serial site "The Venetian defense works between the 16th and 17th centuries") and winds along an outer ring to discover the nineteenth-century fortifications , designed in the Napoleonic era and then strengthened by the Austrians, an extraordinary system of discontinuous works projected in the territory along a radius of about 1.5-1.8 km from the center. The route continues in the countryside of Lugana with its renowned wineries, near the Laghetto del Frassino (also a UNESCO heritage site for the pile-dwelling finds) and links up with the Mincio. A journey through history that has forged this unique landscape between the lake and the river.

The excursion starts on the slopes of the castle of the Scaligero di Valeggio castle, to discover the streets of the historic center and the legendary tortellino. We continue passing under the bell tower of the church of Santa Lucia dei Monti to head towards the Terre del Custoza, dominated by another vertical line, that of Ossario. Between historic houses and cellars, the route returns to the Valeggiano area and descends down the Mincio river passing through the old route of the Littorina, where other vertical lines guide our route, the Ponti sul Mincio hydroelectric plant and its Scaligero castle.

The strength of this tour is the astonishing view. Leaving civilization and riding in the woods, along trails and dirt paths up to Malga Zocchi, will let us admire all mountains surrounding not only Lake Garda but also – in clear sky days - a great part of northern Italy. In the luckiest conditions, we will also be able to see Monviso (on Italy’s West border, 300km far from Monte Baldo).

The descent will also be exciting, whatever your MTB skill is. From Malga Zocchi, our destination and the highest point of the tour, there’s a choice among 4 different downhill paths.

E-MTB Full-day tour for well trained riders

Starting from lake Garda shores aiming to San Zeno di Montagna area, this tour will climb around 700m.
The highest point will be Le Cà little village, a bunch of stone houses hanging almost vertically above the lake.
Seen from this spot lake Garda looks like a Fjord, due to the high mountains surronding the narrower part of it.
The view is amazing: Torbole, Riva, Malcesine on the north, and then the whole west coast, Tremosine, Limone, Tignale, Toscolano, down to Gardone and Salò in the south.
The descent to Campo village will be breathtaking a never ending rock garden to be ridden at high speed!
The way back to our starting point will be through an easy trail built on a typical terrace, surrounded by olive trees and – again – a vertical view on “the Fjord”.

Difficulty level: easy climb, technical descent. Tour for hard-rock lovers (if you want to see The Fjord anyway,easier paths for less skilled riders are available along our way)

Greatly panoramic tour, leading us from Lake Garda shores to Cà Tronconi village, through a short but steep gravel trail (100m climb in total). We’ll learn how to properly use the E-MTB tech and also the dual suspension system. The way back to Pai will be a wonderful pavèe road winding among olive trees and the ancient building in the heart of Pai village.

During this tour, we will discover how two greatly different landscapes can be seen in a rather short distance: the Northern “fjord shape” view and the Southern “seaside” panorama.
From Lake Garda shores climbing first to Crero (200m height) and then heading to Albisano (300m height) through the “Pellegrino” forest road (gravel/rocky surface).
In the relatively short distance among the two villages, the panorama will vary from the North Lake Garda landscape, with views on Riva and Torbole, Limone, Malcesine, to the South Lake Garda view, admiring Torri del Benaco at our feet,  and on the west coast Toscolano Maderno, Salò, Manerba, Sirmione.

The southern part of the lake is basically flat, but going up north, immediately after Bardolino, everything changes and the reason of the name becomes clear: the Rocca and the Monte Luppia overlook the city of Garda and its gulf, which ends with the spectacular Punta San Vigilio.

Just turn the corner and there we are, the magnificent and quiet Baia delle Sirene appears.
We will therefore start our tour in Garda, reaching some of these “observation” points which are some of the most scenic of the lake.

- Starting from Garda, the ride will bring us to Albisano and Mount Luppia through Val dei Mulini and Val Longa dirt roads, we will climb around 500m before arriving to a technical single trail, where the least skilled riders will walk the bike for few minutes. Experts, on the other hand, will enjoy a natural rocky and roooty surface ride. In the end, this is a ride for all tastes which cannot be missed by anyone!
