Waterway Cremona-Milano

The waterway link beetwen Cremona and Milano, open to modern river cargo ships, is one of the oldest and most ambitious objectives of inland navigation.

The Consortium for the construction of the Milano-Cremona Po canal, established in 1941, was dissolved on 31.12.2000. So far only a stretch of canal has been built that reaches Pizzighettone (CR), about 13 Km long, with characteristics suitable for the CEMT class V ships, it means that only certain types of boats can sail. On this stretch is active the public port of Cremona and some private docks of companies.

The port of Milan had to be built to rise in the locality still called "Porto di Mare".
