Lagastrello Pass: what's to know

Malpasso is a steep and solitary route, enclosed between the rivers Enza and Taverone, that has played an important role in the history of this area, and is today still one of the most panoramic lookouts of the Apennine National Park.
In fact, Malpasso was in the past the highest and most difficult part of the crossing of the Apennine range along the Lagastrello Pass. Pilgrims walking to Rome in the Middle Ages and merchants trading goods between the Ligurian ports and the Padana plain used to cross the Apennines at this point. For this reason this route is also called the "Salt's Route".
