Pescheria Chioggia: what's to know

In Chioggia, the fish market is an ancient institution, as fishing has always been among the preeminent activities of the city.
The market variopinto is located between Piazza and canal Vena, behind Palazzo Granaio and hosts thirty peddling positions, called mògnoli, which sell fish of all kinds, because Chioggia is also a meeting point even of non-chioggid fishermen.  The main access to the market is given by the "Portale a Prisca", carved by the Padovan Amleto Sartori.
Fresh fish are discharged from fishing vessels in the wholesale market at four in the morning, it is immediately contracted, and therefore is distributed for the city or destined for the other Italian and European markets.  Local production, appreciated for organoleptic particularities due to low seedlings, concerns various specialties, both prized (sogliole, branzini, orate, capesant), both modest (alici and sarde).
It is always supported the demand of fish from the affordable cost (cuttlefish, squid, kangaroos, crayfish, polyps) and that of mussels (peaks, beverage, caparoxols).
For the liveliness that characterizes it and for the environmental richness that the soul, the fish market in Chioggia is forever an obligatory stage of all tourists.
