Tower and Museum of the Clock Sant' Andrea: what's to know

The name "TOWER OF THE CLOCK" intends to emphasize the singularity and specificity of this museum housed in the millennial bell tower of Sant' Andrea. About thirty meters high with a base thickness of more than one metre and twenty, of Roman-Byzantine origin, it was used as a beacon and a sighting tower. Renovated since October 1997, with the positioning of the various floors and their securing, it has been inaugurated and opened to the public as " vertical museum, "beginning from September 16 2006.Il museum journey is articulated through the various plans by allowing the visitor, albeit synthetically, to learn about the history of the city, the church of Sant' Andrea and the" tower of the clock ". At the entrance the historical events of the tower and its various uses in the centuries are briefly told through some documents beginning in 1339 ; the ancient iron cross, which until 1912 was dominated by the tower of the tower the city, now gives a welcome to the visitor. In the first and second floors, the maps of the city, the church of Sant' Andrea and its tower, maps from the local historical archives and the province. From the third floor the historical journey takes place with the testimonies of the faith and the popular piety with the collection of numerous former vows dedicated to the Madonna of the Addolarate and with the precious stola gift of the patriarch of Venice Cardinal Aristide Naccari (of the chioggiotta origin), parment held in gift by the pope San Pio X.Una "via matrix", which tells of the seven pains of the Madonna (the originals are displayed at the Diocesan Museum), and the ancient Via Crucis of 1906 complete the short religious path. Fiore at the museum's flagship, from which then its denomination is derived, the medieval clock (I was covering it to that of Salisbury in England) remains the crowning of a path in the "time" flanked by a series of astronomical information and an astrolabe accompanying the visitor in a historical-temporal itinerary.
