Oggi ne restano i ruderi a Valle Cancello.
Castalsareceno è nata come roccaforte saracena, Castrum Saracenum divenne in seguito prestigioso centro basiliano e feudo dell'Abbazia di Sant'Angelo.
The route takes us up to 2300 mslm, on the Italo Elvetic border of Step San Giacomo, costing some artificial basins made by the Enel between the 20 and 30 of 1900.
Attention : The path is NOT walkable with the children's bike trailer.
What to see, historical to the San Giacomo Pass
Built from 1929 by the Enel to be able to carry out the dams of Lake Castel and Toggia. As soon as abandoned the evocative conca of Riale the road becomes dirt and becomes a masterpiece of engineering, with reduced slopes, to be confronted by trucks during construction work and back from the harmonious lines complemented by dry arch mulls from which it is possible to immortalize excavations on the tops of the high Formazza and the underlying lake of the Morasco.
What to see, Lake Toggia
We are at quota 2191 mslm, this dam was built in the years 1929-1932 on the Rio Roni, has a length of 199 meters and is 44 meters high.
Focus, Piero Portaluppi-Architect
was one of the most important architects and urbanists of the first half of the ' 900 Italian. Although he has operated predominantly in northern Italy, and in particular for the high bourgeoisie meneghine, he has a real revolution in the way of thinking about the architecture of public and private spaces. Over the course of his career he has carried out projects in a number of areas : not only palaces and residential villas, but also hydroelectric power stations-in which he applied architectural styles more related to historical construction than to industrial-funerary edicts, exhibition pavilions, hotels and much more.

VETRALLA / TARQUINIA
The fourteenth track of the GTL is still immersed in the Etruscan lands, and the hills of Tuscia are the masters in this inexorable descent towards the sea. This inexorable descent, however, hides many small ups and downs that make this stage a little more lively, until it reaches an accumulated difference in altitude of about 600 meters. From Vetralla we exit avoiding the busiest roads, to take the provincial road towards Tuscania: the trend is slightly downhill, the panorama that of the typical countryside of central Italy. Farms, rustic villas and rows of trees frame this first stretch of road without any particular crossings, except for a few herds of grazing cows. The somewhat monotonous wait, however, is rewarded halfway along the route, when we enter the beautiful village of Tuscania: with its medieval walls and churches in Romanesque and Gothic style, closed between the Marta and Capecchio rivers, it is leaning against a tuffaceous block like many villages in the area, and while flaunting a timeless dimension it has known various historical eras: from the Etruscan settlements from which it takes its name (Tuscum) to the Roman ones, up to the Middle Ages of the Aldobrandeschi fiefdoms and the era of the Communes. After Tuscania, the trend becomes a bit fluctuating, although it retains a negative difference in height towards sea level: a nice stop along the way is also the Abbey of San Giusto However, we have to reach Tarquinia, which is leaning against gentle hills that partially block the Tyrrhenian wind: to do so we avoid the most direct road, which is a two-lane provincial road, deviating onto secondary roads in the direction of San Giuliano and then falling back before Montalto di Castro. The destination of GTL14 is universally recognized as the capital of the lands of Etruria, one of the largest necropolises and one of the most important Etruscan museums in the world

Right in the heart of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark, a short workable route in half a day between the Lake of Pergusa and the Hill of Cozzo Matrice, site of an ancient indigenous settlement with the remains of a vast sacred enclosure dedicated to Demeter (Ceres) and Kore-Persephone (Proserpine. Landscapes breathed at 360 ° on almost the entire island and unusual natural aspects for the Sicily of the grain. It is part of the Visitor center site of the rental and it is inert to us towards Cozzo matrix passing through the many villas of the Village Pergusa. Reaching the top, the site of the vast archaeological area, lies along the main path, perfectly cycling on a dirt road to reach the area of the sacred enclosure with the remains of the temples and the two caves that for the ancient inhabitants of Sicily were the entrance to the Ade. The ancient hall of the Misterical Meetings, the "Leske" from which it enjoys a magnificent panorama on central and eastern Sicily. Around ancient frantoises for the grapes, remains of furnaces for the fusion of copper and bronze, tombs in the chamber and, in the North, the profile of Enna with the other sacred area of the Rocca di Cerere. You descend through the village again this time by touching the Piazza della fascist foundation with the monumental obelisk and, reached the Visitor center, ends with a ring ring around the lake, place of large contingents of waterfowl and the only natural lake of inland Sicily.
Caltanissetta, Enna, Sicilia centrale
This itinerary offers a wonderful cross-section of the Piedmont territory, winding through UNESCO vineyards of Langhe-Roero, typical Roero orchards, and historic villages.
Corneliano D'Alba
The starting point with e-bikes for this loop tour is Corneliano D'Alba, one of the heart villages of Roero. For those who wish, it's possible to have an excellent breakfast or snack before departure, which will provide the right energy for the ride. The tour begins with a visit to the town - Corneliano D'Alba preserves in its historic center a medieval decagonal tower from the 13th century, 22 meters tall, testimony to the medieval past of the city and what remains of the ancient castle. For lovers of Baroque architecture, a stop at the Church of SS Gallo and Nicolò is recommended, a Baroque building with an imposing facade that preserves valuable frescoes and decorations inside; the main altar in polychrome marble is particularly valuable. Corneliano D'Alba, located in the heart of Roero, is renowned for wine production, especially Roero Arneis DOCG and Roero DOCG. During summer, the village comes alive for the peach harvest; this fruit in Corneliano d'Alba is particularly prized and juicy. After visiting the town, we depart by bike toward Vezza D'Alba.
Vezza D'Alba
Leaving the town of Corneliano D'Alba, guided by the self-guided route, the ride continues on paved secondary roads that run through vineyards, with gentle ups and downs typical of the Roero territory. During this first part of the journey, you can admire splendid views of the surrounding hills, dotted with farmhouses and small villages. On the e-bike, we reach Vezza d'Alba, whose name origin is quite curious - according to many scholars, the name (once "Vicia") derives from a particular herbaceous plant (vicia sativa) that was once cultivated in the area as fodder for animals. Today, fodder cultivation is practically non-existent, replaced by vineyard cultivation, with Arneis and Nebbiolo vines finding excellent flavor expression in this sandy soil. Not only vines, but also peaches and Madernassa pears are typical products of this area. For geology and natural history lovers, a visit to the Roero Natural History Museum is highly recommended. It is the most important museum of its kind in the area; today the museum houses two different rooms, one geological and the other naturalistic.
Priocca
Leaving Vezza D'Alba behind, the bike takes us toward Priocca passing through Castellinaldo D'Alba. The landscape in this stretch is characterized by alternating woods and vineyards; we are in the wild part of Roero. Looking up at the horizon, steep Rocche (rock formations) stand out - sand walls, sometimes covered with spontaneous vegetation, sometimes "bare." In this stretch, they show all their grandeur. With e-bikes, the steeper climbs are not a problem; the assisted pedaling allows you to climb without too much effort. Once at the top, the panorama over the Tanaro valley and the Langhe gives the right satisfaction to continue toward Priocca. We are about halfway through the route. During the warm season, Priocca is an excellent stopping point for a picnic; upon reservation, it's possible to pick it up directly at the start of the e-bike tour. After lunch at a trattoria or picnic in the shade of a majestic tree, a visit to the town of Priocca is recommended. On foot or by bike, a visit to the Parish Church of St. Stephen is recommended - once a castle chapel, it preserves an imposing bell tower 40 meters tall and completed in 1923. Not just art and culture, but also food and wine; a stop at the numerous local wineries is recommended to experience a true wine tasting of Roero wines.
Return, Magliano Alfieri
The ride on the return road toward Corneliano d'Alba continues on secondary roads with low traffic. This e-bike route crosses more wooded areas and some rural hamlets, offering a different perspective of the territory. Along the bike path, you reach the village of Magliano Alfieri; the woods give way to vineyards and hazelnut groves that characterize the landscape of this stretch. Upon arrival in the village, attention is captured by the imposing Magliano Alfieri castle, which houses the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions and the curious Museum of Plaster Ceilings. With e-bikes, the climb to the castle won't be too demanding, and the view from the castle's belvedere over the Langhe will be wonderful. Leaving Magliano Alfieri behind, the route comes to an end with the return to the starting point in Corneliano d'Alba.

Bistagno
It is 8 km far from Acqui Terme, you can find here all local services and accomodation facilities. Visit the tower of the Castle and the gesso exhibition dedicated to Giulio Monteverde sculptor. From Bistagno you can follow a trail through the hills and it is suitable for walking, cycling and horse-riding. On the first Sunday of every month there is the "Bistagnatico": a flea market.
Monastero Bormida
In this small village visit the 14th Century castle, the chapel of Santa Libera (a hiking shelter) and the big bench of the heart from where you can enjoy a breathtaking landscape on Monferrato. Yearly, on the second Sunday of March, there is the Polentone: the festival of the Polenta (cornmeal mush).
Bubbio
Bubbio is in the Langa Astigiana, the Asti area of Langhe, and it lays on a rocky platform above the Bormida river. There are a lot of trekking and MTB routes. The octagonal chapel of San Grato is a great sightseeing point. The historical centre has maintained the 13th Century medieval structure with the "via maestra" (main road) and lateral alleys. The parish curch of Assunta is a jewel of Piedmont's Baroque. The park with sculptures by Quirin Mayer is a wonderful open-air-museum with the works of the Swiss contemporary art sculptor.
