You pedal between "pajare" and dry stone walls, peasant architectures that have defined the very identity of the Salento countryside, protecting vegetable gardens and olive trees.
The inland on the hills, just a little above sea level, gives way to Gallipoli for a long ride along the seaside to Torre dell'Alto, a stage for magical sunsets on the cliff between the green of Porto Selvaggio Park and the blue of the Ionian Sea.
The starting point of this route is Nardò. Pedaling, you pass through the municipalities of: Galatone, Sannicola, Chiesanuova, Alezio, Gallipoli, Rivabella, Lido Conchiglie, Santa Maria al Bagno, Santa Caterina di Nardò, Cenate.
The route mainly develops on asphalt roads (about 90%) with low traffic; in the summer months of July and August, the coastal road is instead characterized by heavy traffic.
What are 'pajare'?
Pajare are ancient rural buildings typical of the Apulia region. These structures, dating back to prehistoric times and used until the 19th century, represent a unique example of traditional rural architecture.
Pajare are entirely built in dry stone, without the use of mortar, and have a conical or trullo-shaped structure, with a dome roof resembling a beehive. This particular shape was designed to ensure better resistance to the weather and greater durability over time.
Originally used as temporary shelters for farmers during working hours in the fields, pajare have often been restored and transformed into accommodations for tourists who want to experience a unique stay immersed in nature and the history of Apulia.

A rather long stage of about 70 km in the Ciocian countryside, between historical traditions and peasant folklore, wonderful medieval villages and sites of naturalistic interest with a wild and unripe charm.Laving Cassino and its imposing Abbey that overlooks it, we flank the course of two major arteries that lead south: the Autostrada del Sole and the Rome/Cassino railway line, which we cross several times along secondary roads. However, we remain on secondary roads and foothills, taking advantage of the already existing route of the Way of St. Benedict at least up to Roccasecca, a medieval town that competes with Aquinas for the birthplace of St. Thomas. We are a stone's throw from the beautiful Melfa Gorges, which certainly deserve a small detour from the GTL route. Continuing, we embrace the route of another great cycle path, the Eurovelo5, or via Romea / Francigena. We are now in the valley of the Ciociarian countryside, squeezed between two pre-Apennine chains: on the left the Lepini Mountains, on the right the Prenestini Mountains. Deviating from the cycle path towards the former, we have the Isoletta-San Giovanni Incarico Natural Park, a river and forest reserve, and the beautiful Pastena Caves. The road continues following the course of the Sacco river between ups and downs and castles, such as those of Roccasecca or Ceccano, until it reaches Frosinone, the third regional capital touched by the GTL.

Guided evening tour with artisanal gelato tasting at Rome's finest gelaterias (Giolitti, Fassi, Fatamorgana, La Fonte delle Salute, etc.). The route traverses Rome's city center, following the Aventino's cycle path, passing by the Circus Maximus, and reaching the Colosseum. From there, the journey continues along Via dei Fori Imperiali, arriving at the Capitoline Hill while admiring the Roman Forums. Starting from Piazza Venezia, you ascend towards the Quirinal Palace, then passing by the Trevi Fountain, Via del Tritone, and ascending to Villa Borghese and the Pincio Terrace. From the Pincio's terrace, the entire panorama of Rome and its magnificent skyline can be admired.
Subsequently, descending, you reach Piazza del Popolo, and among Via del Corso's alleys, you arrive at the renowned gelateria Giolitti (alternatively, with different routes, Fassi, Fatamorgana, La Gourmandise). After savoring this delicacy, amidst picturesque streets and various shops, you visit Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori. Crossing the Tiber River, you arrive at Trastevere and its charming neighborhood. Once the journey through alleys and characteristic taverns is concluded, you return to the Aventino.

After kilometers and kilometers of coastline, the fifth stage of the GTL heads inland, to retrace the Tyrrhenian stretch of the Gustav Line, the retreat front of the German army at the end of the Second World War. The strategy imposed by Hitler was to leave death and destruction behind, and the villages in this area still bear the signs of what was the scene of bloody war actions between the Nazis and the Allies. We start from the archaeological excavations of what was once a flourishing Roman city of Minturnae, whose aqueduct is still clearly visible from the Appian Way, and we flank the Garigliano river, which at this point is crossed by a beautiful Bourbon bridge, to go up its course along the Way of San Filippo Neri. The road is slightly uphill and the first few kilometers are immersed in the bush, broken only by spas and dams on the river. The track dances on the border between Lazio and Campania, skirting villages such as Castelforte, Santi Cosma e Damiano, Sant'Ambrogio sul Garigliano. The kilometers before Cassino reveal the first signs of the Ciociaria countryside, with the pre-Apennines in front of us and the imposing figure of the Abbey of Montecassino, a Benedictine monastic complex famous for one of the most violent bombings of the last war, where there are still numerous monumental war cemeteries.

This path allows you to move from one ebike rental point to another, so that you have at your disposal not only the routes and GPS tracks starting from Chiusano San Domenico, but also those with origin at the Avellino cycle station in Contrada San Lorenzo, Atripalda.
This route can be cycled either one way or the other, depending on where you are. The GPS track is a little over 16 km long and takes about 2 hours to cover if it is travelled from Atripalda to Chiusano San Domenico; it will take about 1 hour if it is travelled downhill, i.e. from Chiusano San Domenico to Atripalda.
The road does not present any type of difficulty, so it can be tackled with all types of e-bike available for hire: city, trekking and full suspension e-MTB. By following the GPS track, you will avoid passing along the busier Strada Statale 7, also known as Vecchia Ofantina, preferring an itinerary that is more pleasant to follow and with less risk.
The following description was created assuming departure from the Atripalda rental point, at the Avellino cycle station. If, on the other hand, you depart from the Chiusano San Domenico hire point, all the information remains valid, inverting - naturally - their nature.
Leaving the Ciclostazione Avellino behind you, you only need to pedal your e-bike for 1 km to leave the bustling traffic of the city of Atripalda and take the SP5 after 200 metres uphill.
For almost 4 km you can enjoy the beauty of pedalling on a road that is not at all difficult, made up of pleasant ups and downs with small, short climbs followed by short downhill stretches. Although it has been replaced by the faster and more convenient motorway link, this road connects Atripalda and Serino and, therefore, may be affected by vehicular traffic: keep to the right in single file and pay attention.
After 3.7 km the navigator will ask you to turn left onto SP17. Here begins a 2 km climb, with no steep slopes. At the end of the climb, you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Sabato valley and some magnificent vineyards. It is here, from these rows of vines, that some of Irpinia's finest wines are obtained, especially Fiano di Avellino. If you feel like it and if you have time, explore the surroundings in search of the most beautiful landscapes.
A beautiful descent will take you first to Sorbo Serpico and then to Salza Irpina, where you will have to face a short but steep climb to exit the town and turn right. For 500 metres you will ride on the SS7, with the village of Salza Irpina on your right, before turning left onto a secondary road with zero traffic. Relax and enjoy the pleasant climb (2 km) on your pedal-assisted bike. You will cross a dense and lush forest of beech and chestnut trees while maintaining a steady and decidedly rideable gradient. When you pass under an overpass and the forest gives way to a splendid panorama, it means that the climb is almost over. On your left you will have a wide view of Irpinia, with the Partenio Park, Montevergine and many small villages; on your left vineyards, countryside and the beauty of Monte Tuoro.
At the end of the road, turn right to join the SP39, which will take you to Chiusano San Domenico. When you come to a nice view (unfortunately transennined due to a landslide when this information sheet was written), it will mean you are entering the village. Go straight on, past Borgo Ripa (the old historic centre of Chiusano San Domenico, home of the journalist Carlo Nazzaro), the town square) and you have arrived. On the right, you will notice the orange sign of Reveló, the bike and rental point in Chiusano San Domenico of Ciclostazione Avellino.

THE ITINERARY OF THE POPES AND THE OLD ROME FIUGGI RAILWAY
We are on one of the most demanding stages of the entire GTL, 80 km for about 1200 m of elevation gain. However, the route offers the possibility of being further fragmented, since several railway stations are located along the route and you can therefore use the bike transport service by train to shorten the journey. On the other hand, this stage offers a huge historical and cultural heritage, as well as sections of the existing cycle path, the route of the former Rome-Fiuggi railway.Starting from Frosinone, we continue to follow the route of the Eurovelo 5 Romea/Francigena, and we reach the village of Ferentino; from here begins the first of the climbs that characterize the course of the GTL7: the first objective is the village of Fumone, which overlooks the Ernici Mountains, on the top of which stands the imposing Castle owned by the Caetani family, the same as Boniface VIII: here Celestine V was imprisoned and spent his last days, the one who out of cowardice made the great refusal according to Dante; A gloomy and sinister place, it has originated various legends of ghosts over the centuries. From here we continue to the quiet Lake Canterno, until we go up towards Fiuggi, a well-known spa, where we can follow the route of the old railway that until a few decades ago led to Rome: today it is a marked cycle path that passes one after the other the stations of the past, sheltered from the traffic of the Via Prenestina. With a detour it is worth reaching Anagni, another delightful papal village rich in architecture and art.Acuto, Piglio, Serrano, and the route reserved for bicycles is interrupted: avoiding the Prenestina, we continue on Eurovelo 5 which leads us to other wonderful medieval towns such as Gimignano, Genazzano and Cave, ancient papal fiefdoms and a pilgrimage destination for writers such as Gregorovius, and above all Palestrina, whose Temple of Fortuna Primigenia stands out as one of the major pagan sanctuaries of Roman times. From this area there are also many beautiful roads towards the Prenestini Mountains, to deviate from the course of the GTL and challenge the climbs a bit. We hen end the route in Zagarolo, where there is another railway junction for Rome

Follow the canals that irrigate the plain, scrutinize the ingenious works of man that have made it possible to govern the waters, enjoy the shade of the trees, meet farmhouses with special architectures. This and much more is the Naviglio cycle path with return from the Ancient Road Queen.
This tour in ebike north of Cremona allows you to immerse yourself in nature. A ring that leaves and ends in Cremona where you can rent your ebikes at the camping.
Starting from Cremona, cross the city center heading towards Via Bergamo, always on cycle paths and once you arrive in the Migliaro hamlet, you begin to skirt the Naviglio. Before reaching Casalbuttano you can admire the Mancapane farmhouse.

What to see in Casalbuttano and Mirabello
The most important town that one meets on the way is famous for the illustrious presence of the composer Vincenzo Bellini whose Opera "Norma" seems to have been written in the summer of 1831, during the stay of the Maestro in the hospitable house of the Turina family and of this history the Tower of the Norma is also part of it.
In Mirabello Ciria the engineering part of the tour takes shape with the Ancient Hydroelectric Station that will culminate in Genivolta with the incredible hydraulic junction of the 13 bridges where it is easy to lose the sense of the flow of water.
The way back begins passing through Soresina where by appointment you can visit the ancient bike museum, to reach Annicco where a ship ..... exactly, a ship is parked at the entrance of the town. The navigation will take us back to Cremona along the Ancient Road Queen..
Based on your needs we can enrich the tailor-made tour and contact the most suitable facilities by sending a dedicated quote.
Pedaling slowly is the best way to taste the experience, with BikeSquare Cremona you can.

A pleasant tour suitable for everyone, it allows you to explore the rural areas of Villacidro, with the first stop at the church of San Sisinnio with its centuries-old olive trees. You proceed uphill towards one of the panoramic points that allows you to enjoy a complete view of the town and the beautiful lake on the Rio Leni.
Arrived at the panoramic point, proceed towards the reservoir and follow the asphalted road that runs along the lake, arrived at the extreme point, proceed for about 2 kilometers towards the woods of Monti Mannu, arrive at the first source and take the opportunity to recharge the supplies of water and enjoy a fresh break.
We reverse the route and head back towards the lake and follow the road that runs along it until we reach the embankment "wall" which offers us a beautiful view of the whole lake.
We proceed downhill for a few kilometers and turning left we head towards the town, a constant climb makes us rise in altitude and allows us to start our urban ride from the highest part of Villacidro.
The town hall with its panoramic terrace, Piazza Zampillo and the church of Santa Barbara, patron saint of the town, up to the Liberty style washhouse.
After crossing the historic center, proceed uphill towards a new panoramic point, cross the entire cycle-pedestrian area overlooking the town and head towards the famous Sa Spendula Waterfall, here after a refreshment break you resume your ride and head towards the starting point.
