Description
The Castle of Desenzano del Garda, built around the Xth century over a Roman castrum, dominates the city with its majestic might. Enlarged in the XVth century, the fort saw action during the War of the League of Cambrai in 1512, when the troops of Count Gaston de Foix besieged the castle. At the end of the XIXth century the castle was then used as a barracks first for an infantry unit, then for the Bersaglieri and finally for the Alpine troops.
