Description
La Volta Castle is located along the road between La Morra and Novello.
The castle was built in 14th century but was then restructured several times between 16th and 18th century. There are many legends around this castle. It seems that La Volta Castle was connected with a secret underground passage to the Falletti Castle in Barolo. This passage allowed ladies and knights to reach it at night and take part in lavish and rampant feasts. It is also said that during one of these parties the floor collapsed and many of the participants died there.
Although the castle is currently closed and in a state of neglect, it still preserves its ancient charm.
