To the beginnings of the twentieth century, the Val d' Ossola met a great development of the hydroelectric industry. The expansion of this sector brought work, money and an improvement in the living conditions of the inhabitants of the area employed in this new industry.

The other side of the coin was the damage that such changes caused to the environment : if in fact in many cases the invases were built using existing basins, in others they were built ex-novo as in the case of Morasco.

At the time, the wooden and stone houses of the small borough were no longer permanently inhabited during the winter, while in summer, the best period for the alworst in share, still housed some family. A dozen houses in total for a now almost completely uninhabited borough that was buried by the waters of the hydroelectric basin between the 30 and 40 of 1900 creating what is now the name of Lake Morasco. In the early years after the construction it was still possible to deter the bell tower dedicated to Sant' Anna. Later it was no longer visible even this small part of the ancient fraction of Morasco.
